INSTRUCTIONS FOR USING THE SCP-55 **************************************************************************** SCP-55 Driver Version 1.01 ---------------------------------------------------------------------------- < All Models > - Before installing the enabler and driver of the SCP-55, please make sure whether the Card Service and Socket Service are pre-installed in your computer. Most computers have been pre-installed, but there are some exceptions which need installations. If the Card Service and Socket Service are NOT pre-installed in your computer, please install them first referring your computer's manual, then install the enabler and driver of the SCP-55. - If your computer has a check box of {Use 32-Bit Disk Access} after the process of <> -> <386 Enhanced> -> [Virtual Memory] -> [Change], please do NOT check the box. - When you use the WAVE function with the slow processing computer, please use it in a low sampling frequency. - When the SCP-55 is connected with the connecter box MCB-3, which is sold separately, do NOT insert the card in the state of the MIDI IN- input. < IBM ThinkPad Series > - If your computer is IBM ThinkPad 330C, 330Cs, 340, or 555BJ, please start Windows AFTER inserting SCP-55. Do NOT insert or pull out the SCP-55 during the play back. < Compaq Contura Aero Series or 400CX Series > - If the WAVE function does not work well with the Compaq Contura Aero Series or 400CX Series, please take the following #1 or #2 step to solve this problem. 1. Find and click; <> -> -> <>. There, you will find the {Power Management}, please establish it with {OFF}. 2. First, activate which is included in Windows, and open "system.ini" in the directory of "Windows." Then, search "device=vpowerd.386" under the blacket of [386 Enh]. If you find this line (if you cannot find it, you do not have to take these steps), insert ";" at the head of the line. device=vpowerd.386 -> ;device=vpowerd.386 Lastly, save this file and re-start Windows. * Once you take a step above, you cannot use the advanced power management function, but you will find no problem with Windows. There is an exception with computers like Compaq which has original energy-saving function. If you use this kind of computer, you can use the energy saving function which is one of the advanced power management function. < If your WAVE file is played back uncorrectly. > - If you play back an WAVE file by < Media Player > or < Sound Recorder > which are included in Windows, there are cases that you hear the WAVE file played back very slowly, or hear some noise. You may avoid these troubles by taking steps below. 1. Double-click the < Drivers > icon in the << Control Panel >>. Then the << Drivers >> dialogue window opens, and you will see the list of Installed Drivers. 2. Choose { Roland SCP-55 Driver } and click << Setup >> button. Then << SCP-55 Information >> dialogue window opens, and you will see the information about the SCP-55. 3. Change the value of { Waveout Factor } as follows. ( The factory preset value is { 20 }. )      * When a WAVE file plays back very slowly; Setup the value of { Waveout Factor } over { 30 }. * When you hear noise; Setup the value of { Waveout Factor } between { 0 } and { 10 }. **************************************************************************** 2. ABOUT THE SCP-55 CONTROLLER **************************************************************************** The SCP-55 controller is an application which adjusts volumes of the SCP-55. You can adjust the volumes of GS sound source, WAVE, Line input, and MIC input by dragging each slider up and down. You can adjust the input to WAVE by dragging the A/D slider up and down, and adjust the output by the D/A slider. You can do a subtle adjustment of GS sound source. You can adjust the Vol (Volume), Panpot, Rev (Reverb), and Chrs (Chorus) by dragging each slider up and down. 2.1 Installation, and the Registration of Applications ---------------------------------------------------------------------------- Installing the SCP-55 Controller. Following the enclosed "start up manual," please install the enabler, and the "scp55cnt.exe" will be copied into the "scp" on the hard disk, and the "scpmixer.dll" into "windows\system." Starting Windows. Making the SCP-55 Controller registering groups. <> {File} -> {New} <> {Program Group} -> [OK] <> Type {SCP-55} in the blacket of {Discription}. Then, click [OK]. Now you have created a group named <> in <>. Then, register the SCP-55 Controller into the group of <>. <> -> <> {File} -> {New} <> {Program Item} -> [OK] <> Click [Browse...]. <> {c:\} -> [OK] (or double-click {c:\}.) * If your computer's hard disk drive is A drive, specify {a:\}. {scp} -> [OK] (or double-click {scp}. ) (In the left blacket,) {scp55cnt.exe} -> [OK] <> {C:\SCP\SCP55CNT.EXE} is shown in the {Command Line}. * If your hard disk drive is A drive, {A:\SCP\SCP55CNT.EXE} is shown. Input {SCP-55 Controller} in the blacket of {Description}. Then, click [OK]. Now the icon of is registered into the group of <>. By double-clicking this icon, you can start up the SCP-55 Controller. 2.2 Notes ---------------------------------------------------------------------------- - If you adjust values by sliders, the values will be reflected in recording. - If you insert or pull out the card after starting up the SCP-55 Controller, the values on the screen will be different from the actual values. Next time you move the sliders, the values will be at one.
